In Memoriam |
Thomas B. Powers, the developer of Great Island Ocean Club, passed away on October 21, 2004 after a short battle with cancer.
Tom started working at the old "Radio City Ocean Club" when he was 13, raised his children in the Lighthouse, and managed the complex for many years.

"Radio City Ocean Club" was originally a cottage community built by Tom's father and grandfather in the 1940-50's.
After his father's death in the mid-1980's, Tom created Great Island Ocean Club and developed the Nantucket-style village it is today.
Most of the homes were designed by Tom, and reflect his love of simple, Cape Cod architecture -- especially the traditional Coast Guard LifeSaving Stations that used to dot the New England coastline.
Most long-time renters at GIOC will remember my husband as the person who could fix anything -- and do it with a laugh. I know he will be missed by everyone.
I would like to thank everyone for their condolences and prayers -- they are greatly appreciated.
